Back to the OR again

Unfortunately the drain didn't turn out to do the trick by itself. Tomorrow Paul has to go back to the OR so that the neurosurgeon can find where the fluid leak is and patch it up. He'll still have the drain in as well the next few days. He's now slated to stay in intensive care for a few more days and probably be in the hospital for another 3-4 days overall. We're working on figuring out the new visiting plan for the Elliotts in light of all this. Bummer.

His spirits have been up and down -- today, as you might guess, is more of a down day. At least tonight he will be allowed to get out of bed so perhaps that will help. Hopefully once he gets out of the OR tomorrow things will start heading in the right direction again.

Love,
Kate

Thanks for the update Kate. I know it's not what we were all hoping for, but hopefully this operation will lead to a very speedy recovery for Paul.

I'm sure Paul wants to know how all his teams are doing. Here you go Paul: Since you last left the A's they've gone 1-2 at home vs the Devil Rays. you got a win out of Haren, Lost one to Kazmir. you start a two game set vs Boston where you have Blanton vs Schilling and Gaudin(who's that?) vs Beckett. A's are 2.5 back of the Angels. In Fantasy last week you finished 7-6 you being on the losing end vs 2nd place Athletic Supporter (not bad). you took 5 out of 8 batting catagories, but only won 2 out of 6 in the pitching catagories, tieing only one. You currently hold the 5th spot(playoff eligible) in the standings with Tony Biggs and King Felix right on your tail 1 point back. you are 14 points back of 1st place team strike force (yup-yup) who you face this week. Your off to a rough start at 10-2. your monday starters had a rough start hitting around .250. Don't worry about the people you left on the bench, they would have hurt as much as they helped being in the lineup. Hudson gave you 8 innings, 1K, 2.25 ERA, 0.63 WHIP. You have a full squad going today. No bench pitchers are throwing today, Blanton being your only starter pitching. Sharks are up 2-1 vs Detroit
